Millennium Cup 25th June
On Friday 25th June our runners took place in the Millennium Cup, this is a yearly event. This event stated in Hartley Whitney and has returned to the green again, which meant that there were plenty of supporters. Despite the heat, all runners showed their pride values and competed with enthusiasm and determination. In previous years the event has been dominated by Heath and we were delighted with Greenfield’s successes which are detailed below. A huge thank you to Ged and Howard who train the pupils in the after school club and to all parents for their support of all our runners.

Football Tournament - February 2018
First of all, we got warmed up before the start of the first match. Then Greenfields A started to play against Dogmersfield and got off to a good start by scoring in the first few minutes. During the match, Greenfields Alpha were practising for their game against Dogmersfield. Dogmersfield took some great penalties while Greenfields ‘A’ had scored another goal. Then the whole of team Alpha ran over to watch the rest of the game after they heard about the second goal. After 10 minutes the game had ended and Greenfields Alpha went over to the manager to have a team talk before their game started.
When Dogmersfield were ready they went onto the pitch and the ref blew the whistle. The game began. Greenfields Alpha started well with a shot on goal in the first few minutes. After a few more minutes, Greenfields Alpha scored with a header from their super striker! Then Dogmersfield took the kick off and went on an attack at the Greenfields goal, but it came to nothing because they were tackled by a solid defender. Next, the defender passed it up the pitch and Greenfields went on another attack to the Dogmersfield goal but in the end they hit the post and the goalie got the ball in his hands. After a while Greenfields had scored another just before half time. Half time had ended and Greenfields had made 3 substitutions. The 3 substitutions really helped Greenfields because they ended up scoring 4 more goals and winning the match 6-0.
Then the big match came with Greenfields ‘A’ playing Greenfields Alpha and it was a really exciting match. It was an end to end match but finally Greenfields ‘A’ broke the deadlock by scoring. After that, Greenfields ‘A’ went onto win the match 2-0.
During part of that match Velmead arrived and they started to play against Dogmersfield on the other pitch. After Velmead had played Dogmersfield (it was 11-1 to Velmead) Greenfields ‘A’ played them. They had a good start by scoring 2 in the first half. In the second half they scored another 5 to make the final score 7-0 to Greenfields ‘A’.
Then the final game started (Greenfield Alpha v Velmead). The game was even at first, but then Greenfields Alpha scored and then started to have attack after attack and they scored again. Then in the second half Greenfields scored another 2 but Velmead scored 1. The final score of that game was 4-1. Then the tournament ended and Greenfields ‘A’ had won with Greenfields Alpha coming second, Velmead coming third and Dogmersfield coming fourth. by Felix and Reece

Tennis Tournaments - Lower School 1st July 2016
Upper School 8th July 2016
After school on Friday 1st July, some year 3 and 4 pupils participated in a tennis tournament against each other and against children from The Greyhouse. The event was organised by Hartley Wintney Tennis Club and children played in a series of singles and doubles matches, and attempted to achieve the ‘fastest serve’. Throughout the afternoon they collected points for wins and draws, and these were collated together at the end to award the winner. We are thrilled that George B (year 3) came first in the tournament as the top scorer, and he was also awarded first place, with a fastest serve of 47mph! A huge congratulations to George. Congratulations also goes to Theodore A (year 4) who was a prize for the best style and effort shown throughout the afternoon. Well done to all the children who participated, and thanks to HW Tennis Club for organising the event.
It was then Upper School’s turn the following Friday (8th July). Unfortunately, The Greyhouse could not attend, but showing Team Greenfields spirit – the show went on! Children competed against each other, gaining points throughout the afternoon, including attempting to beat each other with the fastest serve! The overall winner of the upper school tournament was Toby P (year 5) followed by Euan B (year 5) in 2nd place and Finley A (year 6) in 3rd place. The fastest serve for upper school girls was won by Caitlin M (year 6) with a mighty serve of 27mph. Tom.J (year 6) won the fastest serve for the boys with a fantastic 59mph serve! Prizes for effort were also awarded to Tom J (year 6), Erys W (year 5) and Thomas H (year 5).
Well done to all involved, a fantastic end to a fantastic year of sports at Greenfields.
Year Six pupils were very fortunate to be given the opportunity to attend the Wimbledon Championships this year! With only 10 tickets available from the ballot, eight lucky year six pupils’ names were drawn from a hat to attend the event. The tickets were for seats in Court Number 2, on Tuesday 7th July 2016. We watched a very comical Round 2 of the Men's Senior Invitation Doubles where Bates and Jarryd defeated Bahrami and McEnroe. After lunch, it was Round 1 of the Men's Invitation Doubles, where Bjorkman and Johansson beat Gonzalez and Moya. After a good look around the rest of the grounds, including a visit to the shop, to Henman Hill to see what was happening on Centre Court (Halep vs. Kerder and S.Williams vs. Pavlyuchenkova) and the purchasing of ice creams and strawberries and cream, we returned to Court 2 to watch Round 3 of the Men's Doubles where Pospisil and Sock were playing Benneteau and Roger-Vasselin. The children (and Mrs Stacey and Mrs Waygood) had an amazing day – the weather was very kind to us, and everyone was appreciative of such an amazing opportunity.
Cricket Tournament - 17th May 2016
Well done to the year six children who represented Greenfields on Tuesday 17th May 2016, at a cricket tournament held at Yateley School. We came third overall, and showed excellent team spirit and cricket skills.

Splendid running on the part of all the Greenfields runners at the Millenium Cup at Lord Wandsworth College. They all did really well amidst strong competition and everyone ran their socks off. Congratulations to the Girls’ under 11 team who won 3rd prize and were awarded medals.
Football League - 18th March 2016
Victory for Greenfields!
On the 18th of March, Greenfield Junior School played our final match in the football league, against Hook Juniors.
In the first half, we won a free kick. Evan took it and scored! 1-0 to Greenfields. A few minutes later, Jack passed the ball to Evan who scored with his left foot. 2-0. Hook then scored a goal bringing the score to 2-1 at half time.
In the second half, Toby H. slotted away his first goal of the game. It was 3-1 – we were feeling confident. With just a few minutes left on the clock, Toby H. scored a brilliant goal, giving us our first win of the season, and bringing the final score to 4-1.
Match report by Callum and Evan (6W)
A fantastic end to a series of challenging football games for the boys – great to see Ed D. making an appearance and some excellent goalkeeping from Jack and Finley A. in goal across the league games. Excellent effort from all the children who have played in both the league and cup games this year, well done and thank you for representing Greenfields with pride! Mrs Waygood.

Football League - 4th March 2016
On the 4th March Greenfields played Charles Kingsley in the football league. We played at home. In the first half we were very strong on the ball. As the second half started, Charles Kingsley were much stronger on the ball than us. Then they got a goal. Our heads started to drop and they got another goal, and another. The game ended 3-0. We know we need to stay positive and not let a goal affect our determination! Our next games are Friday 11th and Friday 18th March, both at home.
Report by Toby.S, Jack.O and Toby.H (6W).

On the 25th of February, Greenfields Juniors and Velmead Juniors played against each other in a league netball match. The outdoor match was held at Velmead. Football Report - 25th February 2016
Greenfields Juniors played in a football league match against Potley Hill on the 25th of February. The team played well during the first half; their passing, tackling and defending was good. At half time the score was 0-0. When Evan took a corner kick, the ball annoyingly landed in the keeper’s hands. Potley then took the lead, 1-0. After a throw in from Toby.S, the ball was played to Toby.H, who passed to Evan, who then scored a nutmeg, bring the score level, 1-1. Sadly, Greenfields defence wasn’t on point for the remaining twenty minutes, and the final score was 3-1 to Potley Hill. Jack.O was awarded man of the match for his super effort, keeping Greenfields in the match with his amazing saves.

5000m Challenge for Primary School Children -1st October 2015
Both Upper and Lower school Cross Country Swifts club participated in a 5000m Challenge; an annual relay competition, consisting of 25 legs of 200m each.
Lower school ran on Thursday 1st October, on a beautiful dry sunny autumn day with near ideal running conditions. Year 3 (comprising of 15 members) ran 5000m in 19min 40 sec. Year 4 (of 10 runners) ran a time of 19min 46sec. There was such good team spirit and encouragement from team members towards each other and certainly a good time was had by all.
In absolutely contrasting conditions for the upper school on Monday 5th October, it was very wet and a little muddy underfoot. Wet weather does not deter enthusiasm and knowing the lower school results the competition was fierce. Caution was being shown although the results do not reflect this. The first of the two upper school teams recorded a time of 17 min 48 seconds, and the second team ran with a time of 20 min 14 sec.
Hugh congratulations to all who participated in this event, it is a pleasure to see such enthusiasm and enjoyment. It is encouraging to see the talent of budding athletes within the school.
